The Tupolev Tu-154 is a Soviet-era wide-body airliner that served as the flagship of Aeroflot and numerous international carriers from the 1970s through the 2000s. Featuring a distinctive triple-engine configuration with rear-mounted engines, the Tu-154 was designed for long-range operations over remote regions and unprepared airfields. The aircraft could carry 158-180 passengers depending on configuration and offered superior reliability in harsh operating conditions. Known for its robust construction and ability to operate from minimal ground infrastructure, it became iconic in Soviet and Russian aviation. While production ceased in 2000, many Tu-154s remained in service well into the 2010s with regional carriers, particularly in Russia and Central Asia.
